Guiding Competition
Guiding is the skill of leading a trip by interpreting information about the attractions of a destination or tourist spot. The Guiding Competition is an event where participants demonstrate their skills in leading and guiding a tourist trip using proper guiding techniques. The theme of this competition is "Culinary Crossroads: Where Cultures Become Culinary Legacies" where participants will interpret an attraction in their area, focusing on cultural intersections through food and culinary heritage. The interpretation should evoke an emotional and deep story about how food creates connections in society and enhances the travel experience.

General Requirements
Participants must be active students in the Tourism Department (D3 to S1) proven with a Student ID or a Letter of Enrollment;
Participants are not allowed to show or wear any institutional identity such as logos, flags, uniforms, jackets, or initials, either in their work or during the competition;
Registration must be completed via the official KPI website (kpi.polban.ac.id) no later than April 23, 2025;
Each university may send up to 3 representatives;
Participants must join the official WhatsApp group;
Participants must attend the online technical meeting on May 05, 2025 via the platform provided;
Participants are encouraged to attend the opening and closing ceremonies on-site at the Main Auditorium of Politeknik Negeri Bandung. If unable to attend, they may join virtually via KPI 15’s YouTube live stream;
Institutional identity may only be shown during the awarding session;
Participants must arrive no later than 30 minutes before the event starts;
The jury’s decision is final and cannot be contested.
Specific Requirements
This is an individual competition;
The interpretation topic is related to an attraction in each participant’s area, focusing on cultural intersections through food and culinary heritage, or a journey into the process of making traditional culinary items within the context of a tourist attraction;
Participants must present information accurately, clearly, and engagingly;
Participants must create an atmosphere of travel, assuming they are in the selected destination or tourist attraction;
The language used must be English;
Participants must wear the KPI 15 name tag;
Participants are required to wear batik (not campus batik) and fabric-based bottoms (pants/skirts) during the competition;
Participants must wear black leather shoes (for women, heels should not exceed 5 cm);
The use of visual aids will not affect the evaluation. Allowed aids include images or iconic objects from the chosen destination;
Online aids are not allowed;
Grooming is required.
Competition Mechanics
The competition will take place on May 7, 2025;
The guiding competition will take place on a bus (Bandros), where each participant will interpret a selected tourist spot, presenting it like a tour guide;
Participants may prepare visual aids such as images, tablets, or other media (without text, only images) in PowerPoint format and submit them via Google Classroom;
Participants are not allowed to bring any written notes during the guiding session;
The guiding session lasts 15 minutes: 10 minutes for guiding and 5 minutes for a Q&A session;
The competition is divided into 2 sessions;
Questions from the judges will be outside the 4-minute answering time, and the answering time for each question is limited to 30 seconds.
Violations
Participants who plagiarize or copy someone else’s work will be disqualified.
Registered participants cannot be replaced for any reason.
Participants who are late without a valid explanation will be disqualified.
Disturbing other participants during the competition is prohibited.
Guiding content containing discriminatory or pornographic material will result in disqualification during and after the judging.
Participants who display institutional identity such as logos, flags, uniforms, or academic jackets during the competition, disrupt the competition, cheat, or endanger the safety of other participants will be disqualified. These participants will be considered disqualified, and no refunds will be issued.
If a participant does not attend or is late without notifying the committee on the competition day, they will be considered to have withdrawn.
Awards will be given
Winners of 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place in the offline competition will receive trophies and e-certificates. Shipping costs for trophies are the responsibility of the participants.
Objections/Complaints
Participants wishing to submit an objection or complaint regarding the jury’s decision may fill out the provided form with supporting evidence. An administrative fee will apply. If the complaint is proven valid and accepted, the fee will be refunded. If not accepted, the fee will be retained by the committee. sanggahan atau keluhan akan dikenakan biaya administrasi. Apabila sanggahan terbukti valid dan diterima oleh juri, biaya administrasi tersebut akan dikembalikan. Namun, apabila sanggahan tidak dapat diterima, biaya administrasi tersebut menjadi hak panitia.
