GENERAL COMPETITION
Travel writing
Travel Writing is a written work that focuses on sharing the writer’s experiences and observations during their travel journeys. The purpose is to provide insights and information about their travel experiences when visiting a particular tourist destination.
With the theme “Rediscover Nature: Writing to Reconnect and Revive,” this competition aims to encourage participants to write about their experiences of returning to nature and how it changes their perspective on the importance of contributing to sustainable environmental conservation. The writings are also expected to inspire readers about the importance of preserving and caring for the beauty of nature.

General Requirement
Participants must be active students (Diploma 3 to Bachelor’s degree) from national or international universities, and are required to attach a valid Student ID Card (KTM) or Student Verification Letter (SKM).
Participants are not allowed to include, wear, or display any institutional identity such as logos, flags, uniforms, alma mater jackets, or institutional initials in any form within their submitted work or during the competition;
Each participant must complete registration through the link provided on the official KPI website (kpi.polban.ac.id) no later than May 3, 2025.
Each university may send more than one representative, with a maximum of three individuals per institution;
All representatives are required to join the designated WhatsApp group created by the committee;
Participants are only allowed to show or wear their institutional identity during the closing or awarding session;
Participants must watch the Opening and Closing Live Streaming of KPI-15 via the official KPI YouTube Channel.
The jury's decision is final and cannot be contested.
Special Requirement
This competition is categorized as an individual contest;
The submitted work must be written in English (International Language).
Participants are required to visit a natural tourism destination, either domestic or international, which will be the subject of their writing.
The Travel Writing must be an original and scientific work by the participant, which has never been published, never submitted in any similar competition, and never used in any form of communication media. This must be stated in an originality declaration letter signed on a 10,000 IDR duty stamp (materai);
Participants must write their work according to the given theme;
It is strictly prohibited to include or attach any institutional identity (e.g., name, logo, or affiliation) in the submitted work.
The written work must consist of a maximum of 10 pages, including the cover, and must be submitted in PDF format;
The writing must not contain elements of pornography or SARA (ethnicity, religion, race, and inter-group issues);
Each submission must display the KPI 15 logo in the top right corner of the pages;
The writing should be informative, sharing experiences and insights with readers, and also persuasive, encouraging readers to seek more than just a regular tourism experience by gaining new knowledge;
All works published through KPI 15 become joint intellectual property.
Any ownership claims of the submitted work by parties other than KPI 15 are entirely the responsibility of the participant.
The competition will be held online, and all participants are required to watch the KPI YouTube live streaming for the announcement of winners, which will be held on May 8, 2025, at Politeknik Negeri Bandung;
Work Format
The written work must be based on personal travel experiences or derived from literature studies and research, using the following format:
Creative cover;
The writing must be done in English (International Language)
Interesting information regarding travel preparation (travel preparation checklist);
Information on transportation options, travel conditions, and recommended experiences (accessibility) during the trip;
Information about the destination, including tourist facilities, restaurants or souvenir shops, local culture, and supporting amenities (e.g., ATMs, clinics, public facilities, etc.);
Details of expenses and budgeting during the trip, including transportation, entrance fees, and other travel necessities;
Additional information such as do’s and don’ts and the unique characteristics of the destination (e.g., what to do, what to buy, what to see).
Insights gained from visiting the destination / travel experiences written from a unique perspective;
Suggestions or ideas for improving the quality and appeal of the destination;

Writing Technique
Participants are allowed to use any method or writing technique to translate their travel experience, such as reporting the world, representing the other, revealing the self, advertorial technique, feature technique, or any other suitable approach.
The submission must be uploaded via a Google Drive link in PDF format.
Works should be submitted through the designated Google Classroom, using the following file naming format: Participant Name_Work Title (e.g: Mia Rahayu_Eksploring Laskar Pelangi)
The final deadline for submission is May 3, 2025.
Participants will be considered DISQUALIFIED if the proposal is submitted after the deadline;
Violations
Participants who plagiarize or copy work that has already been created by others.
Registered participants may not be replaced under any circumstances.;
Participants who submit their work late without a reasonable explanation will be disqualified.
It is strictly prohibited to disturb other participants during the competition;
Any work containing elements of SARA (ethnicity, religion, race, and inter-group relations) or pornography.
Participants who display or include their institution’s identity (such as logos, flags, uniforms, alma mater jackets, or institutional initials in any form), disrupt the competition, cheat, or endanger the safety and security of other participants.
Participants found to have violated the rules will be disqualified before, during, or after the judging process, considered withdrawn, or declared DISQUALIFIED, and will not receive any refund of fees.
Awards
The winners of 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place in the online competition are entitled to receive a Trophy and an E-Certificate, The shipping cost for the trophy will be the responsibility of the participant.
Appeal / Complaint Submissions
Participants who wish to submit an appeal or complaint regarding the judges' decision are invited to fill out the provided form, complete with supporting evidence. The submission of an appeal or complaint will incur an administrative fee. If the appeal is proven valid and accepted by the judges, the administrative fee will be refunded. However, if the appeal is rejected, the administrative fee will be retained by the committee.
